EDI - Electronic Data Interchange


EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) means standard format business documents exchange between two partners (for example between a retail chain and a supplier). Today, companies usually draw up their business documents (orders, invoices, delivery notes, etc.) in their ERP system. These documents can be directly sent into the partners’ computer system via EDI connection. The two most widely used standard formats are the American X.12 and the European EDIFACT (Electronic Data Interchange for Administration, Commerce and Transport) These standards have been developed for use independently of sectors and still under developments.
